New Year, New Moon

It’s a brand new year and the first new moon of 2022, which means I’m taking the time to reflect and renew. At the end of each year, I spend time writing a year in review, to look back upon moments to celebrate, challenges that I faced, places I’ve traveled, the people I had the pleasure of spending time with, and the events that made me who I am today. After taking the time to write and reflect, I prepare for the new year by letting go of what no longer serves me, as best as I can. I attempt to remove the clutter of my mind and journey into new beginnings with ease, awareness, and alignment.

To me, it’s an interesting time to begin anew, because it’s such a quiet, dark, slow time of year. Winter continues to invite us to soften, to rest, to burrow. So, I prepare for the year ahead, by journaling, practicing yoga nidra, meditating, and moving my body. I’m tending to what’s beneath the surface, the roots, by getting quiet, deeply listening, and tuning in to what I need for the year.

This year, my intention is to illuminate my own inner knowing. I want to get really clear on how I show up in each moment in order to live a life of wholeness, joy, and love. In order to do that, I have to commit to living in the present moment. My partner shared wise words by Alan Watts: “Tomorrow and plans for tomorrow can have no significance at all unless you are in full contact with the reality of the present, since it is the present and only in the present that you can live.” The only way to dream for tomorrow is to focus on this moment now. I wish you a year of embracing exactly what you need and savoring this one life that you live.

With love,

Catherine
