Full Moon Musings: What is Yoga Nidra?

Hi! Happy Full Moon 🌕 It’s the last one before it’s officially summer and according to astrology, a Sagittarius Full Moon. This is one to focus and dive deeper into the change that you desire. One of my favorite ways to honor the moon cycles is to practice Yoga Nidra.

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra, also known as “psychic sleep” or “yogic sleep,” is an ancient practice that connects you to the deepest layers of yourself in an alchemical journey through varying states of consciousness. Traditionally done lying down on your back in a completely relaxed position, you can also choose to lie on your side, sit, or even stand, to make the experience more comfortable and resonant for you.

In this meditative experience, you are guided through intention setting, present moment awareness, visualization, and a full body reset to find deep rest and healing. Your body will fall asleep, but your mind stays aware. As you travel through the different stages of awareness, you simultaneously journey through the layers of the body, known as the koshas. By first sensing your physical body, to then sensing your inner world, you begin to discover the infinite potential within. Yoga Nidra invites you into a timeless sense of being and one of vast, expansive love.

Benefits Include:

-Rejuvenating rest

-Lowered stress and anxiety

-Nervous system reset

-Increased clarity and focus

-More energy

-Healing of mind, body, and spirit

It’s a journey of remembrance of your true essence and a celebration of your own wholeness. Give this experience a try during the next Virtual Refresh Retreat Class this Saturday, June 18! This Summer Solstice Welcome will include blissful yoga, Yoga Nidra, and journaling. This live event occurs monthly, but topics rotate, and Yoga Nidra will be offered again in the fall. Don’t miss your chance to join! Sign up here.

Sending love,

Catherine
